UK people leave their Tenuate Dospan reviews to help other people, in whom weight loss diets or healthy nutrition paired with higher activity level don’t bring any weight loss results. Though the action mechanism of this medication is still not known, it is believed to act as an appetite suppressant and help achieve a higher slimming rate by providing the following effects:

1. Curbing hunger

2. Cutting cravings for sweets and fast food

3. Increasing energy levels

4. Enhancing the fat burning rate

Studies on Diethylpropion (active component of Tenuate pills, known in the UK as Amfepramone) and users’ Tenuate reviews have shown that this diet pill helps achieve higher weight loss results in people, who concomitantly diet and exercise regularly, than they would achieve through dieting and exercising only.

However, both Tenuate Dospan reviews and clinical trials prove that its effect tends to subside after several weeks of treatment.

Tenuate vs Phentermine

Such reduction in effectiveness results from the development of tolerance to the drug action, which is typical for anorectics that belong to the class of sympathomimetic amines. This class also includes Phentermine, which is often prescribed as an alternative to Tenuate Dospan, and vice versa.

Since every person is unique, and individual response to treatment varies greatly, it is difficult to compare Tenuate Dospan vs Phentermine and say which is better. Some people find the former to be strong enough, while others prefer the latter and can’t tolerate Tenuate Dospan side effects.

Tenuate vs Tenuate Dospan

As for choosing, it also depends on individual patient’s response. Both weight loss drugs contain the same active ingredient, Diethylpropion (Amfepramone in the UK), though differ through the rate of its release into the body. It’s up to the doctor to decide, which of the two dosage forms to prescribe to the patient, though they both have advantages and disadvantages over each other:

Tenuate 25mg

Tenuate Dospan 75mg

Needs to be taken 3 times a day, 1 hour before meals.
Needs to be taken once a day.
Requires careful meals planning
Does not require a careful meals planning.
Daily dose can be adjusted by using 1, 2 or 3 pills a day
75 mg of Diethylpropion is the maximum daily dose allowed. No dose adjustment possible
Forgetful patients may forget to take the next dose or take a double dose, risking overdosing.
Easier to comply with the dosing schedule, since the drug should be taken just once a day.
Causes higher drug concentrations and may increase the risk of side effect and overdosing.
Provides lower drug amounts released at even intervals, hence a smaller risk of side effects and overdosing.

As for the effectiveness, both dosage forms, Tenuate 25mg pills and Tenuate Dospan 75mg pills, have shown to provide about the same strength, and the studies did not reveal any significant differences in patients’ results.

Keep in mind, that this is a prescription drug and you need doctor’s evaluation and a carefully developed weight loss program to achieve a sustainable weight loss.

Been on Tenuate Dospan for 5 months now. Doctor stopped prescribing it to me since I managed to reach my goal weight. now all I have to do is to maintain it. As for the drug itself, I had no side effects whatsoever, so went pretty nice. I managed to lose 17 kgs. Some might say that losing 17 kgs in 5 months is not that much, but I am someone who could not lose a single gram for so many years, so I am extremely happy. Besides, doc said that the slower you lose weight, the more chances you… Read more »

Started taking Tenuate Dospan for overweight 8 weeks ago. So far I lost 9.7 kilograms and I am really satisfied with the way this med makes me feel. Besides the day-long appetite suppression, I also feel more focused, energized and attentive. Tasks at work now seem a lot simpler and I can cope with more tasks at the same time. If only this was allowed for lifelong administration, I would be on it for sure. Unpleasant was the insomnia a couple of first nights, but it’s not a big problem fore me. Besides it went away, so all good. Right… Read more »

On my 6th week. Lost 11 kilos. Pretty stunned! Hitting the gym 5 times a week and replace 1-2 meals a day with protein shakes. Better than nothing. Didn’t have breakfast in years. Learning more about the nutritional value of foods and planning to switch to having three full meals in some time. Still a lot to learn and understand. PT sessions are good, the trainer kills me every time, but I feel so strong already. And the more muscles we have the more calories we burn by even raising our hand in the air. Hunger suppression amazing! No problem… Read more »

Yep, men usually lose weight easier than women do. it’s good that you are planning to switch to normal meals instead of these 2 protein shakes a day. if you don’t, and don’t get used to your new eating regime, you will gain everything back, just like my friend did. When she stopped taking the pills, she celebrated it with a feats in a pizza restaurant and ate so much that she felt sick. And did not stop at that… so, in a month of crappy eating she reached the weight that she was at before Tenuate. In two months,… Read more »

I am so happy I’ve discovered this pill 3 years ago. It curbs my appetite and I am able to control myself a lot better. Been using it since then, with breaks of course. The first time I took Tenuate Dospan everything changed and I noticed my hunger went away. First week was literally living on water and apples. Then got a stomach ache and decided to switch to normal meals. Followed dietitian’s advice and everything went well from then. Never had any sleeping issues and enjoyed slightly higher energy levels along with more focus. Always took just one pill… Read more »

What does your GP say about the fact that you are taking it for such a long time? I heard that it can be addictive, so not sure about starting it, even though I have the package in my cupboard for about 10 days. side effects freak me out. I tried Phentermine a couple of years ago and it was just too much for me. Is Tenuate Dospan the same? Both are appetite suppressants, though I see that TD provides a slower weight loss rate, or it depends on your dieting and exercising? Is it possible to lose any weight… Read more »

I would not advise taking it if you are not planning to change your eating and exercising. It’s of no use, unless you stuff yourself with food all day long. Then, of course, you will start eating less crap and your body should get rid of some weight, but not much. You need to exercise to increase your heart rate and, consequently, the metabolic rate, which is responsible for your food assimilation and fat burning. I’ve been on Tenuate Dospan for two weeks, and I already lost 7 kg. Yes, my starting weight is high – 133 kg, but I… Read more »

5 weeks on Tenuate Dospan… what can I say. It did stop me from feeling hungry during the day. I had not a single side effect, so nothing to complain about in this respect. I stopped eating sweets and fast food, but I only lost 1 kilogram. It’s a joke! 1 kg in 5 weeks. I don’t know… may be it will work for someone, but for me it’s just a waste of money and another hope burnt. I read so many good things about it on the net. Why on earth doesn’t it help me lose weight! I am… Read more »

Not eating sweets and fast food doesn’t mean that you will be shedding 5 kilos a week. You also need to develop a good menu and eat good foods. If you stopped eating fast food and continue eating crap at home, your weight will not move. And you did not say how you increased your activity. If you didn’t then what weight loss are you expecting?? People, do you even read anything before you start taking a medication? It says that Tenuate Dospan is developed as a SHORT TERM AID IN A COMPREHENSIVE WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM WHICH INCLUDES DIETING AND… Read more »

I agree, Tenuate Dospan is not a pill that burns your body fat on its own. You need to work hard to get to your weight loss goals, just as hard as you worked before Tenuate, that is if you did, of course. If you didn’t, it’s high time to start. Otherwise, you can just throw your money down the drain – no effect!

Female, 25 y.o., obesity. Went to the doc to get Tenuate Dospan after reading all success stories. It is my day 5 since I am taking it and nothing happens. Zero effects, no side effects, no appetite suppression, nada! I though that it might take some time before it kicks in, but now I think that it just doesn’t work at all. I think I will need to get another slimming pills. Any suggestions? Did you try any other weight loss drug that helped you?

For everyone out there who cannot find a doctor, who would prescribe Tenuate Dospan. Been trying to get a script for it for like a year or so. What I learned is that new, “young” doctors are not thrilled to prescribe these slimming pills at all. Not sure why, if the new meds also have hundreds of possible side effects and dozens of precautions and contraindications. So, what you need to do is to find an “old-school” doctor and get your prescription. It is important to keep in mind that you should stick to Tenuate Dospan not longer than 3… Read more »

Been also trying to find some nice doc to get the script, but my blood pressure always gets high when at the doctor’s, so no one wants to take the responsibility and give it to me.

Have the same issue with the blood pressure. I explained it to my doc and he told me to monitor my bp daily, several times a day, and this is what I am doing now he gave me an rx for a month, and I do weekly checks. So may be you should try to talk your doc into the same routine

What a woman could give to have a slender body? Well, I gave my normal lung function. But I am the only one to blame. Remember, if it says do not take more than 3 months in a row, just don’t! I exceeded the allowed duration by one month, and that was enough for the drug to hurt my lungs. This can not be fixed. I should have known that exceeding the course can cause something serious because I had quite severe side effects. My mouth was very dry and no matter how much I tried, it seemed to never… Read more »

I also exceeded the recommended duration and I have been on Tenuate Dospan for 6 months already. Still curbing the appetite, only dry mouth and none of those side effects that you had. Regular health checks sow that everything’s ok. Probably, you were just unlucky. Is there any certain order for discontinuing these pills? I think I better stop. You scared me. Still have a little weight to lose, but a loss of 18 kg is fine for me. At least I’ll stay healthy.

Desperately needed to get rid of 20 kilos that piled up within the last 2 years since my leg trauma. With all the extra weight it’s getting harder for the joints to move me around and I am in constant pain. Doc suggested I try Tenuate Dospan, but only prescribed 2 months worth script. How much can I lose in two months? What health checks do I need to avoid such horrible outcome?

I am using this drug for over a year now and no problems for me. lost 40 kgs in this time. people stopped recognizing me. still have 20 kgs to lose to be in the healthy bmi range. Planning to take it for about half a year more and then will try to stop it and continue maintaining weight on my own. Though I would probably continue taking them longer, since they are a great helper for those who have problems focusing. Never in my life did I feel more energized and ready for any task that might appear.

I started losing weight with Adipex first. Took it for 3 months and probably got used to the effect, since no hunger suppression was felt by week 10 already. Still needed to lose weight and GP offered to try Tenuate, as it has a different active ingredient. So after a month-long pause I started taking Tenuate Dospan. It’s pretty much the same as Adipex. You need to take it one a day, in the morning. The side effects are not the same as on D. I did not have insomnia at all, and no dizziness or nausea which I had… Read more »

I switched from Adipex to Tenuate Dospan solely because of the side effects. I guess, my body is too sensitive to Duro, but I feel a lot better on Ten. Hoping for an effective weight loss. Don’t need to lose a lot, but want to look perfect for my wedding in two months. 8 weeks and 7 kilos to go!
